This Knowledgebase article will offer step-by-step instructions on how students can reset their passwords through myBU. This password will allow students to access Canvas, myBU, and school-affiliated Microsoft applications and websites.
Important Note: If you have not previously signed into your account and set up Multi-Factor Authentication, you will not be able to reset your password. You can visit https://aka.ms/mfasetup to set this up.
1: Resetting your Password
- Go to myBU and select "BU Password Reset."
2: Verify your BU Email Address
- The link will direct you to the Microsoft Online Password Reset page, where you need to enter your email address and complete a reCAPTCHA security test, as shown below.
- Select "Next"
3: Verifying your Identity with the Microsoft Authenticator App
- On this page, select "Send Notification"
- A notification will be sent to your Microsoft Authenticator application. Input the number shown on the Password Reset screen and enter it.
4: Resetting your Password
- After successfully verifying using the Microsoft Authenticator app, you will be taken to a screen where you can enter your new password.
- After entering your new password, press "Finish".

Once changed your new password can take up to 30 minutes to fully propagate across all BU systems.
