This helpdesk article will provide step-by-step instructions on how to file for a repair with Apple using AppleCare+. Before getting into the process of submitting a repair request, there are a few important notes to be aware of.

  • If your device is out of warranty, you cannot file for repair with Apple. To check if your device is out of date, go to checkcoverage.apple.com
  • For this process, I am placing a repair order. After a repair order is filed, Apple will mail a box, which will be returned to Apple with the damaged iPad inside. After 5-9 business days, Apple will send the repaired iPad back.
  • If you need your iPad urgently, you can request an Express Replacement Service, where Apple will send you a replacement device while they repair yours. The process for an ERS is much more involved than a repair and requires a higher hold amount.
  • In this example, we are using an iPad Air 4. Your device model may vary.

1: Navigating to Apple’s Repair Options
  • To begin, go to getsupport.apple.com/products and log in with your Apple ID.
    • Please note that this can be your personal Apple ID and does not have to be linked to your Bluefield University account.
  • After signing in, select “Enter a serial number”.

  • Enter your iPad’s serial number (found in your device settings under “About”) and press “Submit”.

  • Next, select “Repair & Physical Damage”.

  • Select “Accidental Damage”.

  • Select “Continue”.

  • Select “Continue”.

2: Selecting your AppleCare+ Repair Option
  • On this page, select “Get Started” under “Send in for Repair”. If you want to request a replacement iPad, select “Get Started” under “Get an Express Replacement”.

  • On this page, select the description that best describes the issue your iPad is encountering (in this example, we are using a cracked screen), then click “Continue”.

  • On this page, select “Send in for Repair” or “Express Replacement”. For this example, I am using “Send in for Repair”.

3: Finishing your Repair Order
  • On this page, select “I’d like Apple to send me a box” and enter your address in the box below. You will also need to confirm that you want the repaired iPad to be sent to the same address.

  • Enter your email address and phone number to receive updates about your repair order. This does not have to be your Bluefield email address.
  • Select “I turned have off Find My”.

  • Next, enter your billing information using a credit or debit card, then press “Continue to Review”.

  • Verify that the information on this page is correct and, if so, press “Submit Repair”.
